The cultivation of vines in the Bardolino DOC area dates back to Roman times, but it was only in the 19th century that the wine production of the area began to be explicitly identified with the name of “Bardolino”. The modern history of Bardolino officially began in 1968, when the Protected Designation of Origin “Bardolino” was established.
Bardolino is a brilliant ruby red wine, with fruity aromas, spicy, with balance, freshness, and considerable drinkability. It is, par excellence, a youthful and lively wine, with an inimitable salty flavor. Chiaretto is the rosé version of Bardolino: it is obtained with minimal maceration of the skins, which thus release only a part of their natural coloring substances into the must.

The Bardolino DOC area is made up of the morainic hills on the eastern shore of Lake Garda.
Generally speaking, the climate of the area is characterized by a “Mediterranean” climate with hot but not muggy summers and mild winters, so much so as to also allow the cultivation of olives.
Within the production area, the Classica area stands out around the municipality of Bardolino, which is the area with the oldest tradition, which, being closer to the lake, has particular climatic and environmental characteristics.
